ON RESEARCH OF MUTATION OPERATOR IN EVOLUTIONARY PROGRAMMING AND EVOLUTIONARY STRATEGIES

WT5”BZ]An introduction to the three kinds of mutation operators used in evolutionary programming and evolutionary strategies and their properties are given.Their capabilities of local search and escaping are compared by using probability theory.The results indicate that the Cauchy and Normal mutation operator posses good local search and escaping capability respectively,while the Mean mutation operator has both good local search and escaping capability under the situation of one dimension,but in high dimensions it behaves just as the Cauchy operator.All these results provide instructions and inspirations for the use and design of mutation operators.
