New Mounting Systems for PV on Buildings

In the last five years considerable progress has been made in the field of photovoltaics in buildings. New mounting systems have been brought on the market and allow architects and installers to get off-the-shelveproducts for applications ranging from façades to sloped or flat roofs. Several products, most of them on display at DEMOSITE*, are shortly described. Two main criteria were taken into account when developing these systems : price and aesthetics, as these are the main selling points for owners and architects. But most of the presented products also offer quick mounting and easy maintenance and are made of environmentally friendly materials, which enhances their appeal. * DEMOSITE is an international demonstration center for photovoltaic building elements established by the IEA (International Energy Agency) in Lausanne (Switzerland). It is part of Task VII ‘Photovoltaics in the Built Environment ‘.
