A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF RUMOR PROPAGATION FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT

This paper focuses on the study of rumor propagation for possible application to disaster management. A conceptual mathematical model that simulates rumor spread was introduced in this study. The model simulates the mutation of information during the propagation using Monte Carlo method. This model reinforces some of the existing rumor theories and rumor control strategies.
