Method and apparatus for canceling neighbor cell interference signals in orthogonal frequency division multiple access

A method and an apparatus for canceling an adjacent cell interference signal in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access are provided to improve performance of a hand-over by removing an interference signal. A method for canceling an adjacent cell interference signal in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access includes the steps of: detecting an interference signal from signals received from peripheral radio stations and serving radio stations; measuring strength of the interference signal detected and checking whether the strength of the interference signal is more than a predetermined threshold value; aligning the peripheral radio stations having the interference signal whose strength is more than the predetermined threshold value; selecting and detecting the interference signal in a sequence of the peripheral radio stations to be aligned; normalizing the detected interference signal by calculating an interference and noise dispersion for the interference signal; re-generating the interference signal by decoding the normalized interference signal; and reducing the re-generated interference signal from the received signals.
