Fibrous dysplastic lesions of the jaws in Nigerians.

Abstract Seven cases of fibrous dysplastic lesions of the jaws in Nigerians are presented and the different types of lesions encountered are described. The clinical and histopathological significance of the various findings is discussed and related to general concepts concerning this closely related group of conditions. They indicate that there are clinical grounds for regarding the ossifying fibroma as an entity: its local delineation within the jaw bones and aggressive behaviour warrant surgical removal, even at an early age.
