Simulation and Analysis of Time-Consumption of Emergency Supplies Loading Services Based on Queue Theory

After an incident or disaster happened, the most important thing sent was emergency supplies and equipment to affected area or refugee shelter. During this process the vehicle coming to emergency center and loading supplies are relatively time-consuming. In this paper the time consumed by the vehicle to arrive at emergency center is assumed subject to Gaussian distribution and supplies loading time consumption is subject to exponential distribution. Based on this hypothesis, a GI/M/1 of vehicle arrives and supplies loading model was described, and the average vehicle waiting-time and waiting queue length expression are given. After that a simulation model was established by ExtendSim. At the end of this paper the error between the theoretical expression and simulation data were analyzed. The result showed that using queue theory to analyze the time-consumption of emergency logistics was worthy to be considered by decision maker.
