A review on the proposed solutions to microgrid protection problems

The formation of microgrids has impaired conventional distribution system protection. The problem is directly affecting the basic protection requirements namely sensitivity, selectivity and speed. Several solutions have been proposed for restoring protection system performance. In this paper, a review on different proposed solutions is presented with a discussion of their principle of operation, advantages, and practical limitations.
