Magnetic equivalent circuit coupled to finite element analysis for flux focusing PM machine modeling

This paper presents a direct coupling method between finite element analysis (FEA) and magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC). The coupled problem is directly solved using an FEA commercial package. The method is applied to a flux-focusing PM machine. The choice of machine's parts to be modeled using FE method or MEC method is discussed.
