THE EFFECT OF THE DOWNSTREAM BOUNDARY CONDITIONS IN THE LINEARIZED ST VENANT EQUATIONS

Revise 26 August 1986]SUMMAR yThe twa-point boundary problem for the fulI hyperbolic St Venant equation, inwhich both upstream and downstream boundary conditions are taken into account,is discussed. The upstream and downstream transfer functions for the linearizedequation are derived analytically for a channel reach of finite length. The effect ofthe secondary boundary condition is to produce a series solution for each of thesetransfer functions.
