Performance enhancement of tunneling protocol in mobile network with mobile router

A mobile network consists of one or more mobile routers and fixed or mobile nodes. Mobile router is responsible for mobility management of the entire network. Existing tunneling protocols of IPv4 work in Foreign Agent Care of Address (CoA) mode. These protocols route all the packets destined to the nodes in the mobile network through the Home Agent (HA). This increases the propagation delay and processing delay which in turn increases the end to end delay. Hence these protocols may result in sub-optimal solutions. In this paper, the above mentioned limitation is downsized by the proposed route optimization scheme for mobile networks in co-located CoA mode. Its performance is compared with the existing schemes.
