Fully bio-based fiber reinforced thermoplastics can now challenge polypropylene composites

For decades, composites have been mainly made up of petroleum-based plastics. But the priority on making our technology more sustainable has made research into bio-based materials so extensive, they are becoming viable alternatives. Natural fibers like flax can already challenge glass fiber in some applications. And the latest research is turning bio-based cellulose polymer into a matrix that can rival polypropylene. Could this be the game-changer the eco-purists have been hoping for?
