The aim of this study is to introduce "The Expertise Commission Report of Computer Education in Secondary School" which was prepared in 1984 and is the basis for computer education in Turkey. The study was conducted through the survey method. The focus on the study is to explain the advance in the related institutions and the computer use practices for educational aims in Ministry of National Education so that the importance of "The Expertise Commission Report of Computer Education in Secondary School" is realized better. Then, the processes of "The Expertise Commission Report of Computer Education in Secondary School" production and the activities done by the commission in 1984 are explained. The practical applications of the report are also presented. From the point of the report's production philosophy, decisions and recommendations produced during the commission activities, this study may contribute to the discussions on the importance of computer use in primary and secondary education and computer courses status (compulsory or optional)
