Automotive sensors

Sensors are an essential component of most electronic systems in the car. They deliver input parameters for comfort features, engine and emission control as well as for the active and passive safety systems. New technologies such as silicon micromachining play an important role for the introduction of these sensors in all vehicle classes. The importance and use ofthese sensor technologies in today's automotive applications will be shown in this article. Finally an outlook on important current developments and new functions in the car will be given.
