This study aims at exploring the organic relationships among architecture, art and nature, and the regional recovery shown in the regeneration of Naoshima. Literature review was done to understand the meaning and cases of urban or regional regeneration as well as to look over the organic relationships of Ando Dadao’s architecture and nature. Also, by visiting the site- Naoshima, the organic design between three galleries built by Ando Dadao and art works of James Turrel and Walter De Maria were analyzed. The outdoor works and the renovation of old houses of Naoshima as an art space were also thoroughly looked over. The findings showed that the success of the regeneration of Naoshima resulted from the participation of the residents in the process of art projects in the old houses and the consideration of the regional identity as marine island. In conclusion, four factors including 1)renovation of physical environment, 2)recovery of social community and the participation of the residents in the process, 3)appropriate introduction of culture and arts based on the regional identity and characteristics, and 4)economic activation should be totally considered for successful regeneration.
