Programmable Miniature Backpack Stimulator for Chronic Biomedical Studies

This communication reports on a novel stimulator designed for long-term physiological studies. Stimulator output can be turned "on" and "off," in a cyclic fashion, by a programmable modulation signal. Current output is relatively unaffected by changes of external tissue resistance. Low power consumption and small size make the device portable and eliminate the need for connection leads from the experimental animal to an external stimulator.
