Choice of a risk analysis method for complex socio-technical systems

In a context in which EDF seeks to improve its performances on an equal safety level, risk analysis for complex socio-technical systems consists of a very important aim in terms of its safety, performance and lifespan stakes. Several methods have been developed by industrial companies as well as INERIS and EDF to answer orientations given by the law for technological risks prevention of July 2003, and especially the probabilistic approach. Most of these methods are based on a similar basis, such as the key role of safety barriers. The aim of this article is to go deeper in this probabilistic assessment and build a specific tool based on the same basis but representing the risk analysis for a complex socio-technical system taken in its physical and sociological environment, influenced by correlated events and using Bayesian networks.
