Cross Fan-Shaped Antenna with a Stop-Band in the VSWR Frequency Response

This paper presents a compound of two fan-shaped antenna (FASH) elements, where the elements intersect at a right angle. This is referred to as a "cross fan-shaped antenna" (CROFASH antenna). The CROFASH is designed with a stop-band (band of high VSWR) in the VSWR frequency response. This effectively blocks interference from extraneous signals with frequencies within the stop-band, such as those from a nearby communications system. The stop-band in this paper is realized using a wire and slits. The effects of the wire and slits on the VSWR and the radiation pattern are analyzed and discussed. The analysis is performed using the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTDM).
