Wideband Bow-Tie Antenna with Coplanar Stripline Feed

The experimental investigation on a coplanar stripline-fed bow-tie antenna backed by an image plane is presented. Analysis of the radiation characteristics shows that the antenna exhibits an enhanced 2:1 SWR bandwidth of 46%, low cross polarization, and reduced back radiation. This antenna has applications in confocal microwave imaging and impulse ground-penetrating radar. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
