A Quality of Service Aware Routing Protocol for Mesh Networks Based on Congestion Prediction

Wireless mesh networks may be used for developing rural community networks. Ensuring Quality of Services (QoS) in wireless mesh networks is a challenging job. In this work, various issues in rural communication, are analyzed. Finally, a QoS aware routing protocol for mesh networks has been proposed. The proposed routing protocol discovers various disjoint paths existing between a pair of source-destination nodes. In selecting the appropriate path between a pair of nodes, different functions such as end-to-end congestion prediction, bandwidth estimation, and node and link error estimation are used. Moreover, parameter like hop count is considered in choosing the appropriate path. Simulation results are reported for performance evaluation of the proposed protocol. Future scopes of the work are outlined.
