TRAVEL FOR FOOD SHOPPING: THE FOURTH SOLUTION.

This paper reports on research into travel for food shopping. It argues that, over time, various approaches to the issues have developed. The first was the initial move of grocery retailing to out-of-town locations, which has already been discredited. The second and third approaches are the currently popular policies on location and parking. These are receiving a lot of support for many good reasons, but will not be comprehensively beneficial either. Therefore, there is a need for a fourth approach : delivery and new-style neighbourhood shops.
