11—AN APPROACH TO THE OPTIMIZATION OF ROTOR-SPINNING-MACHINE PARAMETERS

The application of a Box and Behnken factorial design to optimize rotor-spinning-machine parameters is demonstrated. The parameters considered are the rotor speed and opening-roller speed for different yarn linear densities. The optimum opening-roller speed seems to be around 7000 r/min irrespective of the yarn linear density. There is no optimum value for rotor speed, and the lowest speed produced the best yarn. Hence the rotor speed to be selected has to be arrived at, not from considerations of yarn quality, but from other technological and economic considerations.
