Modelling and Fault-Ride-Trough Tests of Siemens Wind Power 3.6 MW Variable-Speed Wind Turbines

Transmission system operators and developers require dynamic wind turbine models to evaluate fault-ride-through capability and to investigate power system stability associated the grid incorporation of large windfarms. Siemens Wind Power has developed a dynamic model of a 3.6 MW variable-speed wind turbine which is one of the world's largest, most advance and competitive offshore wind turbines. The model is implemented in commercially available power system simulation tools, such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory and Siemens PTI PSS/E. The model has been validated successfully with fault-ride-through tests.
