Primary torsion of the whole greater omentum. A case report and review of the literature.

A case of primary torsion of the whole greater omentum is described. The patient was admitted to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. An emergency operation revealed that the whole greater omentum had twisted around its pedicle and was strangulated and gangrenous. The omentum was removed. The patient's recovery was uneventful. The literature is reviewed and discussed.
