FMS and Organization

The effective use of new technologies has become a key factor in international competition. Introduction of a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) should make it possible to combine the traditionally conflicting objectives productivity and flexibility. But experience shows that it is hard to realize the anticipated benefits. Especially organizational factors impede the successful implementation of FMS.
