Depth image-based rendering of 3D object on mobile device

We propose an algorithm for high speed visualization of depth image-based 3D graphic data, which can be used effectively for mobile devices. The proposed approach consists of three steps: reading a set of reference, i.e. texture and depth, images of a 3D object; performing 3D warping of the reference images; splatting each pixel in back-to-front order to obtain the final rendered image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm increases the rendering speed when it runs on a mobile device such as a personal digital assistant (PDA) or a cellular phone.
