Temperature effect on the analysis of the magnetic attraction in crawl-type electrogas welding robots

Crawl-type electrogas welding robots use maglev copper sliders with the magnetic attraction part close to the weld pool. Therefore, the thermal effects must be analyzed to determine the temperature distribution around the electrogas welding equipment. The Rykalin equation was used to model the electrogas welding temperature field with the calculations done in Matlab 7.0.4. The results show that the temperature field during electrogas welding will not influence the magnetic attraction, but should be considered in the design of the maglev copper slider, so temperature coefficients must be used in the analysis of the maglev attraction force. The calculated temperature fields provide a basis for the design of the magnetic attraction part and the maglev copper slider in crawl-type electrogas welding robots.
