Adaptive boundary-type finite element method for wave diffraction-refraction in harbors

Abstract This paper presents an adaptive boundary-type finite element method for wave diffraction-refraction in harbors. The present method consists of three parts; the automatic mesh generation method, the boundary type finite element method and the adaptive remeshing method. The present model is based on the mild-slope equation and an arbitrary reflection condition is introduced. The computed results are compared with the existing analytical and experimental results. This method is shown to be a useful and powerful tool for the analysis of wave diffractionrefraction in harbors.
