An Adaptive Deficit-based Scheduler for IEEE 802.16e Networks

In this paper, we describe our proposed adaptive deficit-based scheduler for IEEE 802.16e networks working in TDD mode. The scheduler comprised of deficit-based priority queue with adaptive quantum to support variable rate data in both downlink and uplink directions. A Minimum Tolerable Traffic Rate, a QoS parameter defined by the standard is used to guarantee minimum service provided to subscriber stations. The fairness discipline will be exercised when request are more than network resources. The simulation shows that our proposed scheduler can fairly serve a combination of traffic with various requirements even in high load condition.
