Mixed H/sup 2/ compensator design for an aircraft control problem

Addresses a control design method for an aircraft by approximately solving a constrained mixed H/sup 2/ sensitivity minimization problem. Using some of the known image restoration techniques in the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) domain, a two-stage approach to solve a constrained vector minimization in the l/sup 2/-space is presented. The analytical solution obtained can be made arbitrarily close to the solution of the original H/sup 2/ problem if the number of the DFT points is large, and it can also be efficiently calculated via existing multichannel algorithms. The simulation results for the lateral control of an aircraft are shown to demonstrate the proposed method.
