Shaking table test of utility tunnel under non-uniform seismic excitations(II):Experimental results

A series of shaking table tests were conducted on scaled utility tunnel model with or without construction joint under non-uniform input earthquake excitation.Being the first shaking table test on utility tunnel with consideration of non-uniform excitation,details of experimental setup are first presented with special focuses on: design and fabrication of double-axis laminar shear box with a rectangular hole opened on its side walls;design fabrication of structural model with or without joint;design and verification of two devices for measuring the slippage between the interface of model ground and the structure,and finally the procedure for construction of input earthquake ground motions.Details of experimental setup presented in this paper are useful for further similar test.
