Federal Warfare Simulation: A Solution to the Next Generation of Distributed Warfare Simulation

In the paper “Ten technical challenges we are facing in the next generation of distributed warfare simulation”, we analyzed various technical problems in distributed warfare simulation domain. To resolve these problems thoroughly and systematically, this article puts forward a new concept Federal Warfare Simulation (FWS), presents its logical structure and technical framework, and discusses the rationale to resolve these problems. FWS is a multi purpose and integrated warfare simulation federation, which is modeled based on the idea of soft mainboard and plug ins. In author's envision, FWS will provide a set of theory, methodology, architecture, common technical framework, etc. to realize the connection and interoperation among all kinds of federates (federal members) such as platform level simulators, aggregate level simulations, C3I systems, analysis assessment models, and interface software of real warfare systems.
