Multimedia Content Repurposing for Heterogeneous Wireless Clients

Accessing rich multimedia content through resource-constraint wireless terminals and bandwidth-constraint wireless networks is an important issue. To handle this issue, we propose a multimedia content repurposing framework for repurposing multimedia content for different wireless clients and networks. In order to accomplish this task, we use a number of repurposing proxies in a chain fashion between the server and the multiple wireless clients. Each of the proxies contains one or more repurposing services, which are dynamically discovered by the server. The server generates the repurposing path and finds the best path through a path selection algorithm based on the user's preferences. Additional proxies and/or services can be added easily to the existing series to support any new media formats that need to be repurposed. The performance results show the effectiveness of the proposed multimedia repurposing approach for wireless clients.
