Incidence and distribution of diseases of gayal (Ros frontalis) under semi-intensive management

The study of incidence and distribution of diseases of gayal (semi-domestic cattle) under semi-intensive management was conducted in Bandarban hill tract areas of Bangladesh. Occurrence of FMD was the highest, followed by non-specific diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, skin disease, nonspecific fever and mastitis. Occurrence o fFMD was highest in winter and it was 27.38% of the total occurrences. Cervicitis and metritis revealed more prevalent among the reproductive diseases. Non-specific diarrhoea, skin disease and gastro-intestinal and external parasitic infestations were found throughout the year. Among the parasite diseases occurrence ofcattle tick infestations was the highest (94.44%) throughout the study period. The diseases found in this study appeared to be endemic in nature.
