A flexible UWB low profile antenna for wearable applications

In this paper a new configuration for flexible wearable microstrip fed Ultra Wide Band antenna is introduced. The proposed monopole antenna which was fabricated on flexible substrate has compact geometry area of 38 × 22 mm2 that makes it suitable for wearable applications. The antenna has a resonating structure at the ground level that enhances the antenna gain performance over designed spectrum. Moreover, the antenna has good radiation efficiency (97 %) over the bandwidth. The design principals along with simulation and also experimental results are presented in this contribution.
