Spectral hole burning in silica-based and in fluoride-based optical fibre amplifiers

The results of spectral hole burning measurements in silica-based and in fluoride-based erbium-doped optical fibre amplifiers are compared. In silica-based fibre, the spectral hole appears clearly, while in fluoride-based fibre, the shape is different and weaker effects occur around the saturating wavelength.
