On the use of radome materials for a high-power, wideband, millimeter wave antenna

A comprehensive study on radome materials for a wideband, high power millimeter wave horn antenna is undertaken in the thermal, mechanical and electromagnetic domains. The radome must thermally handle continuous high power, mechanically withstand pressurization, have low loss and minimize the impact on the antenna match and far-field. Studies using several materials in each domain are conducted to determine which is the most suitable. Practical considerations such as available thicknesses and durability are heavily weighted in the selection process for practical realization of the radome.
