Witnessing the advance of science and technology in life sciences in the new era

Since the launch in 1950, Science China Series and Science Bulletin have published numerous significant scientific achievements, witnessing the development of science and technology in China and serving as a bridge connecting Chinese scientists with their counterparts in the international scientific community. Science China Life Sciences (SCLS), including the Chinese and English versions, is one of journals in the Science China Series. SCLS is committed to reporting significant findings from both basic and applied research in life sciences. The past decade has seen dramatic growth of SCLS in scientific quality and impact under the editorial board led by former Editor-in-Chief, Professor Dacheng Wang. As the new Editor-in-Chief, I express my sincere thanks on behalf of the new editorial board to every expert and scholar who has contributed to the development of this journal. To better cover advances and changing scopes of life sciences, we have rearranged the editorial board by subdividing the three traditional disciplinary fields—biology, medicine as well as agriculture and ecology—into 20 areas of focus, including emerging fields like synthetic biology and epigenetics among others. These areas will be managed by section editors, and we have invited 127 eminent scientists from a wide spectrum of research fields to join the new editorial board. The members, including many women scientists, are also diverse in age and the research institutions they work. They are enthusiastic about the endeavor to make SCLS a leading academic journal that communicates very best research in life sciences within China and from the wider international scientific community. SCLS is entering a new phase of development. We sincerely call for your continuous help and support for the journal.
