In drawing up a roadmap for the information complex field, we emphasized the outlining of mainly future scientific and technological development, and an evolution diagram that focuses on fusion and branching rather than the linear development of individual research areas. The history of technology over the past 50 years and an analysis of the present situation has been covered in detail in the 2006 Academic Roadmap in the Integrated Information Field [1] and its supplementary materials. In describing the future, first, we first engage in a thorough discussion that includes two aspects: the scenario that will probably be realized 50 years into the future based on the overall evolution of science and technology, and the convergence and branching of important topics in the flow of development up to that point. Thus, we first determine the general structure of the evolution of the overall information system. That result is shared with the full committee, and a roadmap for each individual technical item is drawn up in relation to the important topics and scenario. Those individual roadmaps are then integrated to produce a roadmap for the overall information system. By proceeding with work that revolves around an overall evolution structure that aggregates the expertise of all of the committee members and is top-down to a certain degree rather than simply a bottom-up collection of individual technology maps, an organic roadmap that includes the convergence and branching of tech-
