Ray tracing for internal gravity waves

Ray-tracing techniques are applied to internal gravity waves in a fluid with spatially varying mean flows. It is shown that the general effect of deformational mean flow over long time periods is to shorten the wavelength, the effect being most pronounced for waves of modest spatial scale.
