A CMOS analog continuous-time FIR filter for 1Gbps cable equalizer

An analog 6-tap FIR filter for Gbps coaxial cable equalizer is presented in this paper. The tap delay line is realized with a linear phase second order low pass filter with delay time 125ps for each tap. The delay time can be tuned from 100ps to 300ps while keeping a constant group delay. Simulation results show that our FIR filter can successfully recover the 1Gbps differential digital signal transmitted over 300 feet 8281 coaxial cables under 2.5 V supply and 22.25mW power consumption.
