Real-Time Diagnostic Systems

Most of the diagnostic systems that have been described so far have been interactive and “single-shot” in nature. When a problem occurs, the diagnostic system prompts a user for the details of the problem, and suggests solutions. The diagnostic session is completed when the problem has been solved to the user’s satisfaction, or when the diagnostic system has run out of possible solutions to the problem.
