Augmented reality for driving simulators

At present, driving simulators show virtual worlds on flat computer screens, and one of the key trainee's skills to be developed is the accuracy of distance estimation for distant objects. The paper describes experiments comparing the accuracy of height (100-300 m) and distance (700-1000 m) estimation for virtual objects on the flat screen and in the augmented reality (AR) environment. The experiment results prove the effectiveness of the AR solution. The approach to creating a math model with the purpose to level the visual perception in AR is suggested.
