Discrimination of thoron alpha activity in presence of radon

The short half-life of ThA is used as a means of discriminating between thoron and radon alpha activity. At low counting rate the count of double alpha pulses due to the rapid decay from Th to ThB indicates the ratio of radium to thorium X in the source solution.
