Probabilistic analysis of irregular structures with consideration of construction process

The construction of an irregular structure is affected by a large number of uncertain factors. It is of practical importance to investigate the construction process from the probabilistic point of view. Both the internal force distribution and the geometry of the completed structure are closely related to the construction process. To consider this influence, the forward calculation method is usually adopted in the simulation of the process using the finite element analysis. For large complex structures, this may involve a huge computational effort, making the common stochastic analysis methods, such as the perturbation method and the Monte Carlo simulation method, difficult to apply in the probabilistic analysis of the construction process.Through the construction process simulation, response surface function and Monte Carlo simulation, this paper presents an effective method for the probabilistic analysis of construction process of large complex structures.Compared with the traditional Monte Carlo simulation method, the new method can significantly reduce the computational effort while retaining the required accuracy. The method has been applied to the construction control of the Guangzhou Library,an irregular structure recently built with a desirable result and its feasibility and validity has been clearly shown.
