IAEA sees bright future for nuclear power

A new report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has concluded that nuclear power's prominence will continue over the next few decades. The report says that if all nuclear stations currently being built or in the pipeline are eventually brought online, then the total amount of power they generate will increase from 370GW at the end of 2006 to 447GW by 2030. But under its "high projection" analysis, which assumes that "additional reasonable and promising projects" are put in place, then global nuclear capacity could rise to 670GW by the same date.
