A Secure and Efficient Electronic Service Book Using Smart Cards

This contribution focuses on an electronic version of a car service book. In this work, we put forward the concepts and security requirements of electronic service book firstly. Then a concrete implementation of efficient and secure electronic service book scheme using smart card is also presented. Identitybased public key systems and message recovery signature schemes are adopted as building blocks in our scheme. No certificate is required to authenticate the electronic service book and the car service and repair history is unnecessary to be stored independently, since it can be recovered when the validity of the service book is checked. Our scheme is efficient and suitable for smart cards or similar devices, which are readily available but are constrained in terms of processing power and storage space.
