Scheduled Rotation Speed Calculation for High-speed Jet Transport Aircraft

The scheduled rotation speed is an important parameter in the preliminary design of an aircraft because of its in∞uence on the required take-ofi fleld length. The present tool is intended for use in the preliminary design phase and exploits fast numerical simulations of the complete take-ofi run. The shape of the pitch-attitude time history was flxed during the rotation on the ground and an elevator control formula has been derived for the airborne phase. Minimizing the take-ofi fleld length was the objective while still complying with the airworthiness requirements. The validation of the scheduled rotation speed by comparison with theory and experimental data of the Fokker 100 showed an accuracy of better than 1% has been obtained.
