Statistical Reliability Change-point Estimation Models

We have presented some change-point models that can be used in reliability analysis. The main differences between the models discussed and the classical change-point model are the dependent sample and the unknown sample size, which is particular to software reliability analysis. When the sample size is assumed to be known, the model discussed is the one used for hardware reliability analysis. By using a classical software reliability model, we have shown how a change-point model can be developed and applied for real failure data. The improvement in modeling and prediction by introducing the change point has been demonstrated for one data set. The MLEs of the change point are yet to be solved, because in some software reliability models the ML estimation of the number of faults can be infinity. In such cases, another estimation procedure has to be developed. An extension of the change-point problems in reliability analysis could be made by considering multipath change points.
