MOnCa: Framework for Ontology-based Context Aware Smart Phone Applications

MOnCa is a framework for building context-aware smartphone applications based on sensors of smartphones and associated ontologies. Most modern smartphones are equipped with various sensors which provide much information to learn user behaviors. However, syntactic sensor values are not enough to model semantic user behaviors. For modeling semantic model of smartphone user's behavior, ontologies can play important roles. Recently, linked open data (LOD) are widely used for context-aware applications. In this paper, we propose a method for building context-aware smartphone applications using smartphone sensor values and ontologies which represent deep knowledge of the sensor values and links to the linked open data. For building framework of context-aware smartphone applications, we abstract sensed values by using ontology and use ontology inference engine.
