Design of broadband passive components based on distributed-parameters synthesis techniques

Advanced design techniques are needed in high-performance applications of waveguide passive components. For this reason, the concept of a design procedure based on synthesis techniques is introduced. With this strategy the geometry of the device is directly obtained from the specifications on the frequency response, without the aid of optimiza- tion algorithms. Experimental results, concerning waveguide filters and polarizers, are also reported in comparison with the theory.
